TV We Watched in 2025
a photo of my TV
  • Alien: Earth - Evidently this is a prequel to the Alien/Aliens/etc. movies, and I cannot see how this will end well. LOL
  • Andor season 2 - Fucking A! How Disney let this get out is a mystery but YES. Let the revolution begin.
  • Ballard - Adam’s got no int, but I keep trying. Our spunky heroes are constantly beset by the worst red tape Los Angeles can throw at them, and they still seem to find good clues to the mystery.
  • The Bear season 4 😄 So much of this was very beautiful to me; I loved all the messy, ugly-cry emotional healing work they did.
  • Black Doves - Enjoyed (though Adam said it was weird to hear Paddington’s voice on a killer).
  • Chief of War - Jason Momoa's labor of love; DNF, language barrier was too hard
  • Daredevil: Born Again - Enjoyed.
  • Dark Matter - Ugh! Rapey, no thank you. Adam finished it, but I didn't.
  • The Day of the Jackal - DNF, I just did not care! I think the scene that stays with me the most was when Eddie Redmayne did a plank.
  • Dept Q - LOVED this! I think Adam was watching the first episode to find a moment where he could slip out saying "this is one for you to watch by yourself" but he never found it; he was just as engaged and thrilled by it as I was.
  • The Diplomat season 2, still trying to get through this, actually. Some of it I love but there's something that makes it inaccessible to me.
  • Dope Thief - This show was beyond hard hitting, scary, gritty, and also emotionally resonant. There was a lot of love in it, which is always the thing that keeps me sticking with a show even when it's hard. It took us months to get through all the episodes.
  • Down Cemetery Road - YES! Just adored all the characters, even the baddies. I don't mean the baddies were likable, but they were so watchable.
  • Duster - I gather this was sort of a long-shelved, at-last-released thing that IMO could have done with a second season but never got it. We enjoyed it a lot. There was a lot that was very funny.
  • Fallout season 2 - Still in media res, as it were, but it's amazing and beautifully done. Adam says it's very faithful. I didn't play the game but I love the show.
  • Freaky Tales - A short multi-part movie, almost, with Pedro Pascal. But there is a lot packed into it, almost easter eggy little things that reward close attention.
  • The Gentlemen - Fun.
  • Ghost Ghirls - 2013 indie tiny tv show; I watched a few eps of this and may yet go back. Very silly.
  • Government Cheese. Just started, I can’t get my head around it but it has interesting vibes.
  • The Institute - NO INT, but Ads keeps trying.
  • The Last of Us season 3 - DNF after Joel Miller died. Last season was so amazing! What happened? (Maybe the writers room was talking to The Witcher's writers room.) Well, Adam, who played the game all the way through, told me so I didn't have to watch the rest.
  • Love Death & Robots season 4 - Adam saw but didn't wait to watch with me. I liked the previous season.
  • A Man on the Inside season 2 - I will take any Ted Danson I can get. Plus the writing is so clever and yet real feeling. Still waiting for more episodes.
  • Only Murders in the Building season 5 - I will also take any Martin Short and Steve Martin I can get. This show still delivers, IMO.
  • Over the Garden Wall - Various people were waxing enthusiastic about this kids' show as another way to get into the holidays, but I tried and failed to watch it all.
  • Paradise! We loved this. I really like Sterling K Brown, and I can't wait for the next season.
  • Peacemaker season 2 😄 Love John Cena. Love all the supporting actors. Don't love the latest season's intro music, but that's certainly a minor detail. How the hell are they going to go forward from where they ended this season?!
  • The Pitt - Adored this the same as everybody else. Can't wait until the new season.
  • Platonic season 3 - Even though I don't like Seth Rogen, when you combine him with Rose Byrne and the rest of the supporting cast, this show is just secret platinum. The Jeopardy! episode will live forever in my heart.
  • Pluribus - What a show! Apparently everything Vince Gilligan touches turns to gold. Rhea Seehorn is delightful even though her character is repellent.
  • Poker Face season 2 - I felt the second season was a bit flat, but that didn't mean I was willing to let any episode go unwatched.
  • Reacher season 3 - We watched because we put in the time on this already ... but ugh. No más de eso por favor. They are basically murdering people for no reason half the time. It felt gross and gratuitous. Also Alan Ritchson stop getting bigger, you're there already.
  • Revival - Man, this show was very fun. Some dead people are brought back to life through some mysterious means at a specific time in a specific little northern town (Wisconsin, but feels very Canadian) and there is also a murder that Melanie Scrofano has to solve.
  • Rogue Heroes seasons 1 and 2 - This show is just amazing. I recommend it very highly. Fantastic performances by some grand actors. Evidently, war is hell.
  • The Sandman season 2 - Despite adoring the first season, this year we tried to watch and felt too shitty about it, because Neil Gaiman is a repellent human being. It was so fun; fuck you Neil Gaiman so much for ruining things.
  • Say Nothing - About the Troubles in Ireland. DNF because it was just too much. The casualness with which that first gal was just upped and disappeared was ... a lot.
  • Severance season 3 - Say it with me: “Devour feculence” (IYKYK). So great.
  • Slow Horses season 7 - Fantastic yet again. My only complaint about this show is the seasons are wayyyy too short. Come on.
  • Smoke - DNF, bounced off after 2 eps? I'm not a huge Taron Edgerton fan. Watching someone's arm deglove was enough for me.
  • South Park season 30?! - Weirdly, this is relevant again! And hilarious. And reportedly really gets under administration folks' skins, which makes it even better.
  • Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4 - Still excellent! Check out the trailer, it's Muppets!
  • (Star Wars) Skeleton Crew - “Treasure Island with Jude Law” - We watched it, but constantly felt like we were way too old and weren't in the target audience. We probably won't bother with the next season, if there is one.
  • Stranger Things season 5 - I just don’t care, why do I not care? I cared before, what happened? But I just don't care! I think we've watched several episodes?
  • The Studio w Seth Rogen - Watched one episode and then DNF. There's only so much Seth Rogen I can tolerate, "Ah heh heh heh heh."
  • Talamasca: The Secret Order - Meh, DNF. I don't like Anne Rice, sue me.
  • Watson - Only watched a couple eps. I wanted to like it, I like Morris Chestnut, but I found lots of it twee. DNF
  • Wednesday season 3 - Still great. It was nice to see Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez) get some screen time. Also I loved that they found a way to keep Gwendoline Christie in, despite killing her off last season.
  • The Witcher season 5 - this is the one where they replaced Henry Cavill with Liam Hemsworth and it turned out not so great. Adam stopped entirely and I've only been able to watch a couple episodes. The writers don't give a shit about the material, why should I? And the first few seasons were so excellent and fun!
  • Your Friends and Neighbors - Worth watching. But I was disappointed with the season's end.
  • Zero Day, DNF because I couldn’t accept the premise. SURE, they would get a former president to manage a task force on hacking. Riiiight.
